POSITION SUMMARY:
With a focus on new product development. Responsibility will include conceptual design, early product design (pre-manufacturing), product feasibility, product improvement, project cost, timeline, tasks, etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for new products and technologies
- Design and develop innovative products from concept to production.
- Responsible for specifying components, hardware, defining bill of materials, and component cost.
- Conduct complex engineering calculations and experiments to test, prove, or modify designs based on research findings.
- Determine feasibility of viability of concepts, taking into account product marketability, regulatory compliance, etc.
- Interact with Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Quality, Operations, and vendors regarding engineering design questions or concerns.
- Produce engineering documentation and drawings enabling release of components and assemblies.
- Assist in diagnosing field issues and developing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and compliance activities.
- Develop solutions to improve product quality and reduce product cost.
- Experience with project management and working with overseas team/vendors as well as local contract manufacturers.
- Developing, initiating, and managing all phases of a project
- Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
- Minimum of 3 to 10 years of experience in product development and design
- Excellent analytical engineering design skills are a must
- CAD knowledge (SolidWorks Preferred)
- Strong background in the design of machinery, mechanisms, tools, or hand-held devices.
- Project Management experience
