Job Title: Custodian
Location:  Local Community Center 
Full-Time $18-24
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:30 PM some weekends]

Job Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the community center. This role includes daily cleaning and maintenance of all public areas, event spaces, offices, restrooms, and exterior grounds to ensure they meet health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general cleaning of all areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and kitchen areas.

• Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for events and activities.

• Monitor and replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.

• Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the Facilities Manager.

• Lock and unlock facilities as required for scheduled activities.

• Ensure exterior grounds (walkways, entrances) are clean and free of debris.

• Assist with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs.

• Follow all safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals responsibly.

• Provide courteous assistance to community members and staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks.

• Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.

• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Work Environment:

This role operates in a community center environment and may require work indoors and outdoors, exposure to cleaning chemicals, and interactions with the public.
