Reports To: Plant Manager or Production Manager
We are seeking a safety-focused and results-driven Second Shift Production Supervisor to lead and manage operations during the overnight shift at our chlorine tablet manufacturing facility. This position plays a critical role in supervising production, ensuring safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and meeting performance targets related to safety, quality, and productivity.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff during the 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM shift.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards—particularly in handling and storage of chlorine and other hazardous materials.
- Oversee production lines to ensure manufacturing targets and quality standards are met efficiently and safely.
- Enforce and model safety practices, including proper PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Conduct shift startup and shutdown routines, including inspections and reporting.
- Maintain communication with other shifts to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate production team members; address performance and behavioral issues as needed.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Quality teams to troubleshoot issues and minimize downtime.
- Monitor material usage and ensure availability of raw materials, packaging, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate shift records, production reports, and incident logs.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
- Minimum of 4 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach.
- Comfortable using digital production systems, Microsoft Office, and plant reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours and respond effectively to unexpected challenges.
- Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and potentially hazardous substances.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to be on the production floor 70% of the day.
This is a 12.5-hour overnight shift position (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM). Rotating schedule may apply, including weekends and holidays, depending on production needs.
