BelFlex is partnered with a third-generation family owned and operated company. Seeking full-time direct hire Lead Machine Operators. They are in Columbus, OH. Qualified candidates will have Production Manufacturing Machine Operating experience. Must have team lead experience, excellent communication, and a desire to improve the work environment while increasing productivity.

Pay$25 and up based on experience.
2nd shift Monday- Friday 3p-11:30p



Job Summary:
The Lead Machine Operator will be responsible for the operation of their machines as well as safety, performance, quality, and maintenance of production lines they oversee. They are also called on as first escalation in helping all other operators on the shift with troubleshooting, repairs and understanding of operating equipment and SOPs to include training. A mindset of teamwork and flexibility for the greater good of the team is a requirement.

Reporting Responsibilities
Reports to the Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Indirect – Provide production related direction to personnel working on assigned production lines.

Duties/ Responsibilities:
Mechanical/Maintenance
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
• Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
• Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
• Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts kept in our parts 2-bin system.
• Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
• Repairs non-operating machines quickly and efficiently.
• Prepares reports documenting work performed as required/necessary.
• Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
• Coordinates with production planning to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
• Collaborates with MRO manager, Shift Supervisor or Production Manager regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
• Collaborate with other maintenance technical experts to conduct troubleshooting and improve reliability.
• Training of Machine Operators and Assistant Operators as required on machine operations to continue to improve their skillsets and machine understanding

Machine Operation
• Each operator must be aware of the level of efficiency and quality of their packers’ output to ensure that it is at the expectations of Pelton Shepherd Industries.
• Maintain daily production standards and thoroughly complete production reports as required.
• Ensure standard operating procedures are being followed throughout his or her team.
• Keep the Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager informed of any problems or potential problems regarding machinery, inventory, and/or personnel.
• Report low inventory items (i.e., film, machine parts) to shift and/or facility supervisor.
• Complete reports and assignments requested by the Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager.

Required Skills/ Abilities:
• In-depth understanding of machinery operations, parts functionality, and mechanical processes.
• Ability to maintain proper quality and efficiency goals for their performance.
• Must be able to look at mechanical operations of a machine and understand the cause and effects of parts and operation with the ability to diagnose problems.
• Machinery maintenance know-how and able to learn easily.
• Able to diagnose and solve problems independently.
• Organized, pays attention to details, quality driven.
• Able to adapt to different working environments.
• Works well independently and with others.
• Good communication skills.
• Promotes a positive work environment through setting an example with willing cooperation and mutual respect amongst teammates.
• Possess strong initiative to solve issues and keep all machines on the shift running properly.

Education and Experience:
• 3 to 5 years relevant experience
• Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience (preferred).

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to70-pounds.
