Starting pay rate for helpers is $18/hour
This individual is responsible for the installation, retrofit, and repair of environmental control systems, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, control systems, pipe fitting, and structural layouts.
Job functions and duties (other duties may be assigned)
- Responsible for servicing all HVAC products and equipment up to approximately 50 tons (including all ancillary equipment) on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- May work under the guidance of an experienced HVAC Field Technician while on assignments.
- Uses various hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
- Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at customers’ locations.
- Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
- Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work as necessary.
- Maintains vehicles by keeping records of service manuals, scheduling, and complete repairs and maintenance service. Performs vehicle maintenance as necessary.
- Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
- Represents the company by serving as a direct customer contact.
- Provide re-training and follow-up training at the customer site.
- Provide sales leads to the Supervisor or Service Manager.
- Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
- Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration. Maintains files and turns in all paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
- Records parts, material, labor, subs, and other cost data per assignment and returns unused resources.
- Keeps current on all products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair.
- Reads and interprets product specifications using his or her experience in working with building specifications,drawings and designs.
- Study industry literature, manuals, and training materials to continue better understanding the HVAC industry.
- Attends referred training programs designed to further working knowledge of the industry.
- Provide technical support to customers.
- Delivers parts to job sites, as necessary.

Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
Six months to one-year related experience and/or training
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license
- EPA-approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
- KY journeyman license (preferred)

Work Availability and Requirements
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.
