Setting up and operating CNC machines and machining centers using theory and procedures, shop mathematics, material properties, and layout techniques.

Job Details and Duties
- Starting pay $25-$30+ based on experience
- Determines and follows set-up requirements on set-up sheets.
- Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or program as required.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece
- Maintains the highest level of quality control per our ISO standards.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, and other inspection equipment.
- Follows sequence of operations on router.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, and saws.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as feeds and speeds, coolant flow, and depth of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit programs.
- Sets up and operates machines on first piece run to verify accuracy of machine settings and program.
- Communicates with coworkers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
- Confers with engineers, supervisor, and others to resolve machining problems.
Job Requirements
- CNC Machining: 3 years (Required)
- Minimum of 3 years of trade school, vocational education, or machining experience.
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Ability to exert and lift between 10 and 50 pounds on different occasions.
- Ability to speak/read/write in English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, engineering blueprints, sketches, and job layouts.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to use handbook equations and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
