Location: Durham, North Carolina
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay: $17-23 per hour (based on experience)

Job Description:
We’re seeking an experienced Bindery Machine Operator to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating a variety of advanced bindery machinery used in the finishing process of printed materials. You will work with equipment that includes cutting heads, inkjet devices, mailing equipment, case making & decorating machines, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and more. This position demands a high level of technical skill, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency in the production process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate a range of bindery equipment, including power paper cutters, collators, gatherers, folders, and speed binders.
  • Operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that handle multiple functions such as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering, and stacking completed books, magazines, and catalogs.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple workstations on automated bindery machines to ensure smooth, uninterrupted production.
  • Perform all aspects of production for binding and finishing jobs, including inspecting and adjusting the machines for optimal operation.
  • Direct crew through the various stages of production, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Inspect equipment for safety issues and make necessary adjustments to keep equipment running smoothly.
  • Monitor the quality, output, and productivity of the bindery process, ensuring that products meet company standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise, minimizing downtime and ensuring quality control throughout the production cycle.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience as a Bindery Machine Operator or in a similar role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up, adjust, and troubleshoot complex bindery machines.
  • Experience with automatic binding machines, folding equipment, and high-speed finishing systems is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • HVAC experience is a plus.
