Best Work-Based Learning Program in U.S. Staffing & Recruiting
LIFT the TriState program ensures that workers’ skills align with available local manufacturing positions
Cincinnati, OH – September 18, 2018 – BelFlex Staffing Network (BelFlex), a staffing and flexible workforce solutions firm in the commercial sector, was honored with a 2018 American Staffing Association Elevate Award. This national awards program recognizesthe most innovative and effective work-based learning programs designed specifically for temporary and contract employees.
BelFlex received the award for a program it created with the Freestore Foodbank, one of Ohio’s largest food banks, called LIFT (Logistics, Inventory Management, Facilities Management, and Transportation) the TriState (Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio). The goal of the program is to help narrow the gap between unfilled manufacturing jobs and underskilled individuals by offering free training and transportation to program participants who gain the hard and soft skills needed for warehouse, logistics and transportation jobs.
“While many manufacturing jobs in this region remain unfilled, there are still individuals who struggle to find work and feed their families because they lack the skills needed for the jobs that are available,” said Robert Baer, Executive Vice President of Sales, BelFlex. “LIFT the TriState is a collaborative effort that aims to help bridge the gap – ultimately helping local companies fill open positions with qualified employees and providing individuals in our communities with the skills needed to pursue long-term career opportunities.”
During the 10-week program, unemployed and underemployed adults receive hands-on training from experienced warehouse personnel at the Freestore Foodbank; specialized coursework designed by Gateway Community and Technical College; and access to local employment opportunities through BelFlex and other program partners. Between July 2017 ‒July 2018, LIFT the TriState graduated 43 participants with forklift certifications making them fully employable through BelFlex or other companies in the region. The program is continuing in 2018 – 2019 with the first of four sessions currently underway as of August 28, 2018.
The Elevate Award winners will be celebrated on October 18 at a recognition ceremony during Staffing World®2018 in metro Washington, DC.
