As an entry-level DC Power Installation Technician you will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of DC power systems like batteries, rectifiers, and inverters, primarily in telecommunications and data centers. Key qualifications are a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to learn basic electronics, safety protocols, and the specific procedures for working with critical power infrastructure. Entry-level technicians perform pickup and delivery functions and assist technicians on job sites.
Responsibilities
- Assist with installations: Help install new components and replace old batteries and equipment.
- Follow procedures: Adhere strictly to safety rules, operational procedures, and methods of procedure (MOPs).
- Perform maintenance: Assist with preventative maintenance on DC power systems and batteries.
- Use tools: Become proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment.
- Customer interaction: Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
- Warehouse duties: Assist with tasks in the warehouse as needed.
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, sometimes up to 750 pounds with assistance and proper equipment, and work at heights.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn electronics.
- Documentation: Ability to complete required paperwork according to company standards.
- Driving Helper: A valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record are typically required. Entry level technicians are required to drive vans/box trucks for equipment loading/unloading, pickup and delivery to/from job sites.
- Work Environment: Involves working with live, high-voltage power systems, requiring significant attention to safety and self-awareness.
- Travel: Travel to various customer sites is required.
